It's nearly Spring already and we have some great new titles coming through in time for Christmas. We are especially excited about two beautiful new books, Australia's Endangered Animals and Le Louvre for October, and for November Count with Me and Christopher Bear's Day at the Beach.
Australia's Endangered Animals is a fact-based picture book with stunning wildlife illustrations by Natalie Jane Parker and informative, accessible text by Luisa Adam. It is a beautiful, full-colour, 32-page hardback production, with quite a large page size 280mm x 280mm. ISBN 9781925386356, rrp $27.99, available October. It will be available for purchase through the Brolly shop once in stock.
Le Louvre: the women behind the icon is the next book in Cassy Liberman's Inspirational Australian Women series, following on from Australia's Nightingale: Nellie Melba, published earlier this year, and two earlier titles, Fighting for Freedom: Nancy Wake and Wildflower: Ellis Rowan. It tells the story of legendary and iconic Melbourne fashion atelier Le Louvre, founded by Lilian Wightman in the 1920s and later run by her daughter Georgina Weir. This fascinating history documents the introduction of French fashion to post-WW1 Melbourne, the tradition and culture of couture, and the gradual transition to ready-to-wear fashions of today, all the acknowledging the extraordinary originality and determination of this mother-and-daughter team. The book is delightfully illustrated by leading contemporary Australian artist Mark Schaller. ISBN 9781925386431, rrp $34.99, available October.
Count with Me is a classic large-format counting board book, full of counting activities and lots of hidden surprises.Children will spend hours poring over the detailed illustrations while busily pointing out and counting up all the things they can find. There are bunnies, butterflies, boxes, bees, kittens, puppies, and frogs—and lots more besides—all to be found on the pages within. ISBN 978-1-925-38635-6, rrp $22.99.
Christopher Bear's Day at the Beach is a delightful sequel to Christopher Bear's Birthday Party. Christopher is hot, bothered, and bored, and doesn't know what to do. Luckily his sister Isabel has a seaside adventure in store . . . ISBN 9781925386349 rrp $12.99
All books will be available for purchase through the Brolly shop once in stock in October.
